Island Park & Ashton clinics have new care providers
![]() |
The Island Park and Ashton clinics have a health care provider, Ashton Memorial, Inc. Executive Director Sheila Kellogg announced Wednesday — just days before the two clinics were set to close down because their providers had resigned.
Dr. Stephen Cheyne of St. Anthony, will begin providing medical services in the two clinics on Monday, November 19. He will continue his current practice in St. Anthony.
Kellogg said Dr. Cheyne is bringing into his practice Dave Adams, PA, to assist him with the additional medical clinics. They will provide five days per week medical coverage at the Ashton Clinic and part time medical coverage at the Island Park Clinic.
Both Dr. Cheyne and Dave Adams bring many years of experience to these clinics. Dr. Cheyne has practiced in St. Anthony for 25 years and Dave Adams has practiced in Rexburg and the Upper Valley for more than 30 years. Both practitioners are well known and respected in the Fremont County area. Dr. Cheyne has been the Ashton Living Center’s medical director for almost 20 years.
Roxanna Holmes, the Nurse Practitioner who has been the community’s full time caregiver, is leaving on November 16. Dave Adams will begin coverage on Monday, November 19.
The Island Park Clinic has been closed for the first two weeks of November and will remain closed for the week of Thanksgiving. It will reopen the week of November 26. Days and times will be announced very soon.
Clinic telephone numbers will remain the same — Island Park, 558.7766; Ashton, 652.3396.
Kellogg said, “We are pleased to be able to support Dr. Cheyne as our only Fremont County physician these many years by assisting him with the clinics in Ashton and Island Park.”
Funds from the North Fremont Hospital Taxing District are used to provide the physical facilities as well as assist in the ongoing operations of the clinics in both Ashton and Island Park.
